How do you calculate the number of calories in a recipe?
Calculating the number of calories in your recipes is actually very easy to do using the following steps:
- All that you have to do is list all your ingredients, noting down how much of each you are adding in metric or imperial measures;
- Then, using the packaging that the food product came in, note down how many calories are in each measure of each ingredient used in the recipe;
- The final step is to add the calories of each ingredient together then divide the total by the number of portions that your recipe makes.
Our 'traditional hot pot' recipe as a perfect example of how to do this as it lists the ingredients and calories associated with the quantity of each ingredient added, to produce a total number of calories for the entire dish and then divides it by the number of portions it makes.
