Dieting Pills - Do they actually work?

We have scoured the internet, magazines and research journals for an answer this and the jury seems to be out.

Dieting pills

There are many articles talking about wonder slimming drugs, but most of these articles are not backed up by reputable independent research. You might find pills on the internet which claim to boost your metabolism or pills that curb your hunger, but the important thing to be born in mind is your weight is simply determined by the calories in - calories out equation, not dieting pills!

If you consume fewer calories than you expend, you will lose weight, it is as simple as that!

Whilst researching dieting pills, we found out that there are, apparently, two main obesity pills available in the UK; Xenical (Orlistat) and Reductil (Sibutramine). These drugs should, strictly, be prescribed by your doctor, but they can be bought on the internet. As with any drugs, you should speak with your doctor before considering such an option - this is strongly recommended.

Xenical is a drug that reduces the amount of fat that your body absorbs by around 30 percent. This unconsumed fat therefore just passes through your system with other waste products. There are, however, apparently some side effects including excess wind and diarrhoea.

Reductil, on the other hand works on your brain, making you feel fuller when eating than you would otherwise. The theory is that you consume less and consequently lose weight. Reductil supposedly has side effects including constipation and sleeping difficulties.

It is obviously much better to avoid slimming pills altogether and instead opt for a calorie controlled diet and exercise regime......

A final thought on dieting pills......

Most of you will have received spam messages advertising Viagra or slimming drugs at some point in the last few years - would you ever buy them? We certainly wouldn't!

Whatever you think, all that we can say is that if you do want to buy supplements for your body of any kind, including vitamin supplements, buy from a reputable source such as, YourHealthFoodStore.co.uk Holland & Barrett or Boots the Chemist.
