Instructions
- Add a little olive oil to a medium to large sized pan. Finely chop the onion and chilli peppers and crush (or finely chop) 1 garlic clove and add it to the pan. Fry gently on a low heat for 8-10 minutes until the onions start to brown.
- Allow the onion, chilli and garlic mix to cool then add the beef mince. Stir together until well mixed and season with a little salt and pepper. Add a teaspoon of mixed herbs if you so wish.
- Using wet hands, split the mixture into approximately 20 balls and then place the balls in the fridge for 5-10 minutes until firm.
- The next step is to crush (or finely chop) the remaining 2 cloves of garlic. Add this to a pan and fry for approximately 1 minute in a tiny bit of olive oil. After a minute or so, add the tinned tomatoes and simmer for 10 minutes. With a couple of minutes to go, stir in the 1/2 tin of peas. Again, season to taste and add some mixed herbs if you so choose.
- Whilst the tomato sauce is simmering, you will need to start boiling the spaghetti and cooking the meat balls. For the spaghetti, you will need a large pan of boiling salt water - the salt in the water will stop the spaghetti strands from sticking together. Add the spaghetti and boil for approximately 12 minutes stirring occasionally. For the meat balls you will need a large frying pan. Fry the meatballs for 10 minutes or so in a little olive oil, turning frequently, until browned on all sides and cooked through to the middle.
- Drain the spaghetti and add to the sauce with the meatballs. Mix together and serve.
